After Cedar Rae Floral delivers and installs your designs, a few simple steps will help you continue enjoying their beauty in the days that follow.

A note on repurposed florals

If your event included a flip and strike, many of your arrangements were thoughtfully moved and repurposed throughout the day to give them a full life within your celebration. At the end of the evening, you or your guests are often able to take home select pieces to enjoy.

That said, most events involve a significant volume of florals, vessels, and mechanics. While you may leave with a few meaningful arrangements, it is not typically feasible or necessary to take everything. We are always happy to guide you or your planner on what is best to take and how to transport it safely.

Keep them cool

Flowers last longest in a cool, stable environment. Place them in a cool room away from direct heat, sunlight, or vents. In colder Minnesota weather, be mindful during transport and never allow flowers to freeze. If it's below 34 degrees outside, most florals must be wrapped. If you have tropical flowers or foliages, wrap when below 55 degrees to help protect them.

Trim the stems

For arrangements that are re-cut and placed in water, trim about half an inch off the stems at a 45-degree angle. This helps with water absorption and extends the life of your blooms.

Refresh the water

Use clean, room temperature water and refresh it every couple of days. This prevents bacteria from building up and keeps your flowers looking their best.

Use flower food

If you have flower food available, add it according to the instructions. It provides essential nutrients and helps prolong the life of your arrangements.

Remove foliage below the waterline

Leaves sitting in water can lead to bacteria growth. Removing any foliage below the waterline will help keep your arrangements cleaner and longer lasting.

Avoid direct sunlight and drafts

Bright sunlight and fluctuating temperatures can cause flowers to fade more quickly. Keep arrangements away from windows, doors, and vents where conditions tend to shift.

With thoughtful care, your Cedar Rae Floral designs can be enjoyed well beyond your event. If you have questions about a specific arrangement or would like guidance on preserving your pieces, we are always here to help.
